Jonathan and Jenn Woodhull-Smith
Franchise owners of Wine and Design Wake Forest
Jonathan and Jenn met at NC State in 1999. After going their separate ways, they reconnected 8 years later through NC State’s MBA program. They married in Wake Forest in May 2009. Jonathan has been in sales for seven years, and always talked about owning a franchise. Jenn worked in the corporate world for a few years and owned a marketing research company.
She attended a few classes at Wine and Design’s Raleigh location and had a blast! When she heard Wine and Design started franchising, the couple decided it was the right fit for them. Both have a passion for creativity, even though they admit neither has any artistic talent (until WINE AND DESIGN!). Jonathan and Jenn put a lot of hard work into their studio in Wake Forest. They opened in October 2011. “We hope to bring a fun experience to the residents of the community. Wine and Design customers will be pleasantly surprised how well their artwork turns out in just 2 hours!”

Anne Conner
Studio Artist Wine and Design Wake Forest
Anne has been involved with creative expression for as long as she can remember. She received her BFA from old Dominion University and went on to have a very successful career as an art director and creative director for several national ad agencies, racking up more than a few national awards in her 20-year career.
Once she began having children, she decided not to go back into the ad biz. Too much travel and unpredictable hours; however, she always kept her hand “in the arts”. Anne and her family moved back to Raleigh 13 years ago. Since that time, she has shown in juried shows for VAE and Works of Heart, maintained a working studio on Glenwood South for 6 years and helped to organize group as well as individual shows and openings. She founded EXHIBIT Art Gallery along with 6 other artists in the Carter Building and served as the interim art teacher at Lacy Elementary. Anne also worked for Gallery C in Raleigh for a couple of years. She is currently employed at a fabulous plant nursery in Cary.
Anne brings a combination of graphic design, painting, drawing skills and teaching experience to our group. In Anne’s words, ” How great is it be able to work outside all day, paint at night and teach art to such a fun group of people? Life is good.”

For as long as I can remember I have loved creating art. The medium has never mattered. As a child I would use anything I could get my hands on to make an art project. As I grew a little older I got into jewelry making, collage and painting. By the time I was ready for college I knew art making was what I wanted to do. I got my degree in art education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth in 2004. I specialized in ceramics and sculpture, though painting and drawing were also a large part of my education. I taught art for 3 years in North Carolina before my oldest child was born in 2007.
Since then I have been a stay at home mom. I now have 3 children. I keep busy creating art and experimenting with many new mediums. Children’s wall murals are among my new endeavors. My love for teaching and painting makes Wine and Design an ideal place for me to work. Commissioned work is also welcomed. You can contact me at mikeandbethmettler@gmail.com

I’ve been painting as a professional artist for over 25 years and have acquired experience and expertise in portraiture and other fine art, murals, faux and decorative finishes, fabrication, trompe l’oeil, and design. While earning my Art degree at UNC-G, I was introduced to faux and specialty painting while assisting a friend at the Furniture Market in High Point. After apprenticing for 2 markets, I was hired by Lexington Furniture to be charge of all specialty painting for their entire showroom building, where I also painted my first mural (same as a regular painting, only with bigger brushes, right?). Since then I’ve worked for many of the major furniture companies, as well as restaurant chains and night clubs all over N.C. and the U.S., hotels and resorts across the US and the Caribbean, numerous designers and architectural firms, municipalities and universities, and a large number of private clients. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience and participate in a wide variety of creative endeavors… including teaching private art lessons on an individual level.
At Wine and Design, you experience so much gratification in helping people unlock their own undiscovered abilities or rediscovering dormant talents, all while producing solid paintings… and all with a twist of fun.

When I was little I used to draw on my walls. After countless scolding my parents finally decided that I was going to be an artist and they may as well give me my walls to express myself on. Of course all of my friends thought that this was amazing, and I guess that it paid off because I have now been an artist my entire life.
Over the past six years I attended college, and recently earned a Master of Architecture degree from the NCSU College of Design. For as long as I can remember, I have done custom paintings as well as murals, corn hole boards, etc. Through all of the studies and projects, I realized that I wasn't creating art anymore as a release. When I am drawing or painting I forget about everything else that is going on in the world. Being part of Wine and Design is a great way that I can make sure that it stays an active part of my life as well as introduce the art of painting to others. At Wine and Design, you experience so much gratification in helping people unlock their own undiscovered abilities or rediscovering dormant talents, all while producing solid paintings… and all with a twist of fun.
